Well.... I know that its been a long minute since my last post but I had promised myself that this post would be about my first impressions of my new job... the problem is for some reason, it took me a month or so to kinda sort things through in terms of what I feel about it. First I gotta tell you this job has been like some straight boot camp bizness. It just so happens that the person that was trainging me for my new role would be getting married & going on a 2-week vacation about a month after I was hired... which normally seems like an OK amount of time to get acclimated. The only problem with that is I had to learn an practice their entire database/ reporting stucture [large finance compaines aint no joke!] and learn how to produce complex multi-tiered reports SOLO before my trainer heads to matrimony. This report goes to all of the high level execs in this large financial firm.. talk about baptism by fire! So everyday I come into work I have been an some serious crash-course boot-camp-style training. To say that my initial experience has been mentally and emothionally taxing [even physically..to an extent] is somewhat an understatement.
On the positive side of things the people there are very formal-behaving [not really used to that] but very cordial. And my supervisors are cool [even though they put me through a relentless amount of drills/ excersises during my 9-hour work day].
I am going to use this as a positive tool to propel me further career wise. I mean, I have learned more about MS excel & Access in 3 weeks than I EVER have before...for real. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. So let's have a toast to strength.. 'cause imma need it!
