Run!...It's a Fiddy Poster
Since today marks the nation wide release of the "Get Rich Or Die Tryin" motion picture staring Curtis "50 Cent/ Interscope" Jackson, I figured that I would share a conversation that I was having with the wifey and a couple of friends on our way home from a concert about the infamous movie poster controvery involving 50 Cent holding a microphone in one hand and a handgun in the other. It's funny to me that I can name off the top of my head probably 5 movie posters and trailers that are not R-Rated as this movie is, that clearly depicts a chatachter holding a firearm. But of course none of these other films were classified as "urban" and starring a Black man that now many White kids idolize. I'm sure when some government official is having breakfast with his son Timmy who expresses how excited he is that "Fiddy" is comming out with a movie that he's not too thrilled about it. Maybe he would've been more thrilled if the starred "The Governator".
BTW: Those movie billboards were ultimately removed by Paramount Pictures after much protest but are still very present in "urban" areas [like the one we saw on Hillside Avenue on our way home]...but that's another blog.
