I can't even front...When Clipse first hit the rap scene [officially anyway] I was a little leery of their "crack rap". Not because of the content, but the fact that it was the ONLY content that they rapped about. But of course that Neptunes production pulled me in. Until I realized that even though their subject matter is pretty much one dementional [pushin' weight], their flows and rhyme construction, metaphors, etc. are supa-tight.
Now with southern hustlin'-rap [now called trap music] at an all-time high in popularity [you can lump Dip-Set in that category too..], these dudes are poised to smash the game with their long-delayed-and-awaited-up-coming Hell Hath No Fury LP. I was always a fan of these dudes since their "Exlusive Audio Footage" album [never released] days but now I can clearly see that lyrically these dudes are waaaay ahead of the so-called trappers/ trap music that's dominating hip hop right now.
So their new album is one of the few albums [well...& Nas' joint] that I am eagerly awaiting this year. Let's see if all the "mr-me-toos" can catch up after they release that album. They gots it for Cheap!!
