Tha Local Life...

Road trips can be fun & adventurous, or downright torture depending on the situation that the trip occurs under. Luckily my trip to Chadbourn, NC last week was the former. Me & wifey packed up the car after taking a power nap at about 12 midnight last Monday and hit the road for a 10 1/2 hour trip. you would be surprized at the ease in commute early in the morning when travelling. Although after driving down the same highway for 4 hours straight can num your senses a little bit...
I guess I'm such a city slicker @ heart that whenever I get outta state... especially when I hit those rural spots.. like Chadbourn, I always marvel @ the lifestyle that the local folk live.. and try to envision myself in that position. Life is so simple in these spaces. Most folks here are only concerned with having a roof over their heads making sure there is food on the table and maintaining the food & roof. Those apirations of money, success & psuedo-stardom are life for dream-chasing city folk. I visited my wifey's-mom's crib, which sits squarely accross the field from about 4 acreas of a corn field [peas farm depending on the season].
As I sit on the porch of the home people drive by and wave or honk their horns to say hello. I had a little bar-b-que the night I got there and the neighbors just came by to say hello and enjoy the festivities. It's actually quite refereshing to not feel like you constantly have to hustle on a come up to acquire whatever material/ superficial means that the big-city mentality brings... just living & enjoying that moment... hiting up a local 24 hour Wal-Mart or Dairy Queen.. or just laying in your hammock & enjoying the expansive nature around you.
Now if only they can do sumthin about these damn giant mutant bugs and this hotter-than-the-devil's-drawers' weather and I might be able to hang out in these parts a little longer.
