Is My Belly Full??

"No one said it would be easy n*99@ livin' is work"- Jay Z: "Allure"
On this wonderful July 4th week end some friends and myself were caught up in some Bar-B-Que hoping around town [Queens & Brooklyn, NY]. Just tryna socialize and get some half-charred grub @ the same time. For the most part it was a bust because most of the spots that we went to were closing up shop [they call NY the city that never sleeps...yeah RIGHT!!]. One of the final pit stops on our route home was a friend of my best friend who after a few minutes stated to get into a conversation about a recent trip to her homeland of Haiti. For those who are not in the know, Haiti is a country that has been plagued with economic and political strife for many, many years[like most "3rd world" countries], resulting in a country where most of the citizens are ravaged in poverty. She explained how it was a task just to round up water from nearby poluted wells to flush the toilets. Electricity only being available for certain hours of the day and the horrible living conditions of many citizens of Haiti. When she came back to U.S. soil she mentioned how much she appreciated things like a refridgerator, milk, a faucet, electricity, clean water, a running toilet. Things that we all take for granted because we are busy thinking about perhaps buying a new car, some new summer gear, or maybe the next Bar-B-Que to raid.
